The $110 Million Story
When we began our relationship with the LA Phil, they had just completed the formal case statement for their endowment campaign but were having great difficulty articulating their story to reflect the true value proposition of the institution. As we identified the root challenge, it became clear that while the LA Phil had a well-established retail brand (ticket sales and musical events), their institutional brand remained undeveloped. Pursuing this insight, we created a story that gives potential donors an understanding of how a great orchestra thinks and runs. As the Development Department worked with the materials, they found that once donors understood the opportunity to shape the destiny of the orchestra through their philanthropy, they were not only willing to give, but excited to do so. The results of the work in the words of our client, "Stunning." The campaign closed having raised a $110 million endowment fund.
