President and Creative Director—Designer / Photographer / Artist
As Founding Principal of Intersection Studio, Michael Rey brings an exceptional creative background to the enterprise. Coming out of Art Center College of Design during the graphic design renaissance influenced by the late 60s and early 70s, Michael is part of an extraordinary crop of gifted "visualists" whose pursuit of meaning in simple images defines modern graphic design.
      He made his mark quickly as co-publisher and art director of The Picture Newspaper in New York City. The infamous publication hit the streets in the seminal days of modern art when Andy Warhol held court in Union Square. Its presence in the Museum of Modern Art illustrates its impact. With The Picture Newspaper, Rey's work succeeded in influencing avant-garde and eventually mainstream publications in both the United States and Europe.
      Rey has applied his love of images to numerous areas of design including corporate identity, packaging, publications, film/television graphics, album covers, movie campaigns, advertising and editorial design. Mastery of his design skills came as design director of California Magazine, Creative Director of Container Corporation of America (Mexico City Division) and Art Director for Robert Abel and Associates.
      Michael holds a BFA in Advertising Design and an MFA in Fine Arts from Art Center College of Design where he has taught graphic design. He has also instructed at the School of Visual Arts in New York, UCLA, and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. His fine art photography feeds his passion and his soul.
